Bee-tween
I bought this little plane at the Georgetown Swap Meet for 20 bucks. It was designed to fly with a 1/2a glow engine. I think the plane is a "bee-tween" designed by Randy Randolph. That design is about 20 years old. Its hard to say the age of this plane, but it looks to have never been flown. I recovered the fuse in blue and added white stripes to the rudder (aka PT-19). I then added obscene power. A Rimfire 28-26-1600Kv, 7x5 prop and 3 cell Lipo battery make 180+ watts. The all up weight is about 1 pound...it gets...
Did I mention it was overpowered...I broke the wing on the first flight. The wing failed gracefully, I didn't even realize the problem until I got home...hmm so that's what that "pop!" was! Anyway, the main spar is balsa with ply doublers near the center. I repaired the spar and extended the doublers farther along the wing. So far so good.
